CHARLOTTE LEIMER

Charlotte Leimer is a Swiss artist based in Sils Maria in the Engadine valley.

Leimer’s practise particularly moves between sculpture and works on paper using spoken word. Her work looks to constantly challenge communication channels, be it through directing cultural and societal roles and persons relationships with one another. The work directs the underlying tensions at play when communicating and looks to challenge issues of communication and the limits of language.

Her sculptural works often incorporate found materials and iconography from the landscape and local environment, looking to push these materials to their limits and incorporate them in her continuous path in striving to reveal the power structures present in the complex and interwoven architecture of language.
